Matthias joined Goldschmidt in 1991. He spent the first few months working in development and research. He then completed a Thermit® welder training course and worked as a Thermit® welder for five years on construction sites for Deutsche Bahn and for municipal companies. After a stopover in the moulding shop, he worked as a Thermit® Welding team leader until 2007. He then switched to the Technical Service department.

As an employee in the Technical Service department, I am the link between customers and Goldschmidt. I introduce technical innovations and products to customers and ensure that they are used in accordance with quality standards. I also provide technical advice and practical support on all issues, including complementary technologies. I am also responsible for the basic and advanced training of Thermit® welders.

The most exciting aspect of my job is that I work in different places. I am always dealing with different people, languages and cultures. For example, in addition to Finland, Ireland and Israel, I have also been on assignment in Africa and Arab countries. Every business trip is something special and always a new challenge.

At Goldschmidt, I appreciate the open atmosphere and collegiality. There are also opportunities for advancement. I have developed from a Thermit® welder to an employee in the Technical Service department and was able to train as an International Welding Specialist a few years ago. The working atmosphere is very positive and the cooperation between employees and managers is very good. My work is appreciated.
